Your family's data stays yours

KidSched is built so your kids' schedules, names and addresses stay on your iPhone. We don't run servers, we don't have accounts, and we don't collect analytics.

On your device. Everything you enter is kept in a database on your iPhone.

No account, no tracking. There's no sign-up, no ads and no analytics, and we never sell data.

Optional, encrypted sharing. Family sharing uses your own iCloud, and the contents are end-to-end encrypted.

What KidSched stores

To plan your day, KidSched keeps the information you enter:

  • Children's names, schools, school hours, colors, and optional notes such as allergies and medications
  • Routines, one-time events, to-dos, library books and family contacts
  • Your home address and saved places, such as school or the swimming pool
  • School calendar events imported from a link you provide
  • The names of the parents or caregivers who do drop-off and pickup, including one-day swaps

This data is stored in a local database on your iPhone. It isn't sent to us, and we have no servers that could receive it.

If you add the KidSched widget, the app also saves a small summary of today's and tomorrow's plan and to-dos in the app's own storage on your iPhone, so the widget can show it without opening the app. It never leaves your device.

Apple services the app uses

Some features use services built into iOS. They receive only what they need to work:

  • Apple Maps (MapKit): to look up addresses and estimate drive times with live traffic, the app sends Apple the start and end locations of a trip.
  • Apple Weather (WeatherKit): to show weather tips, the app sends Apple your home location.
  • Notifications: reminders are scheduled on your iPhone and aren't sent through any server.

Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy.

School calendars

When you paste a school calendar link, KidSched downloads that calendar straight from the school or district website, and checks it again about once a week. The request goes to that website only.

Family sharing (optional)

If you turn on family sharing, both parents can see and edit the same children, routines, to-dos, events and places.

  • Where it goes: the data is stored only in your iCloud, in a private "Family" area, and shared only with the people you invite.
  • Encryption: the contents of every field are end-to-end encrypted with CloudKit encrypted fields, including names, addresses, notes, allergies and medications. Apple can't read them. What isn't encrypted is each record's type and which records belong to the same child.
  • Your phone's name stays on your phone. Your family sees the name you enter in Settings → You.
  • Stopping: "Stop sharing" removes the family data from iCloud and keeps everything on your iPhone. The other parent can choose "Leave family" at any time and keeps a copy.

Children's privacy

KidSched is meant for parents and caregivers, not for children to use. Information about your children never leaves your device, except as described above, and we never collect it.

Deleting your data

You can delete any child, routine or event in the app, or delete everything from Settings. If you loaded the example family, Settings → Remove example family removes only the example kids and what came with them. Deleting the app also removes all of its data from your iPhone. If you used family sharing, stop sharing first to remove the family data from iCloud.
